MARTIN Derek Herbert June 13, 1942 - May 19, 2019 Passed peacefully away surrounded by his loving family at the Health Sciences Centre on May 18, 2019, Derek Martin, aged 76 years. Derek retired in 1993 as Captain and Training Officer of the St. John’s Regional Fire Department after 25 years of service. He was predeceased by his parents Clifton and Emma Martin. Leaving to mourn his wife of 54 years, Barbara (nee Benson); son Rick (Arlene), granddaughter Victoria; daughter Pam (Rob) Hutson, grandsons Robert and Matthew; daughter Susan (Ken) Curtis, grandsons Alex and Andrew; siblings Bill (Lorna), Graham (Sadie), Valerie (Winston) Skeffington, Linda (Roy) Symonds, Wayne (Sharon), Jocelyn (Jack) Wood and Randy (Donna); siblings-in-law Joyce Pye, Fred (Mary) Benson, Bob (Maxine) Benson and Dave (Karen) Benson; also, a large circle of family and friends including his brother firefighters from the St. John’s Regional Fire Department.
