Dianne SMITH

SMITH Dianne Fraser March 22, 1955 - January 22, 2021 Passed peacefully at the Health Sciences Centre in St. John’s. Dianne was predeceased by her father, Douglas Fraser. Dianne is survived by her mother, Anita D. Fraser; her loving husband of 34 years, Harold; her daughter Anna (Ayon) and son Jason; brothers David, Glenn, Ian, and Scott Fraser; and her cousin Gillian Sparrow. Dianne began her law career at a private law firm (O’Dea, Greene) before moving to the Provincial Government, where she served 25 years with the Department of Justice and was awarded Queen’s Counsel on February 19, 2004. Beyond work, Dianne enjoyed a vibrant and fulfilling private life in the community, and is remembered fondly as a Girl Guide Leader, a member of the Board of the Botanical Gardens, and a competitive participant in her friends’ monthly Scrabble game. Harold and Dianne, along with the family, enjoyed many trips around the world, captured in Dianne’s beautiful scrapbooks. Cremation has taken place. Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic a private family service will take place at The Carnell Memorial Chapel. COVID-19 Restrictions apply. Friends and family are invited to view the service online.
