Douglas Hynes

HYNES Captain Douglas William Passed peacefully away at the Health Sciences Center on Tuesday, July 16, 2019 surrounded by his loving family, Captain Douglas W. Hynes of Mt. Pearl aged 73 years. Predeceased by his wife Elizabeth (nee White) and his parents: Douglas and Mary Hynes. Left with fond and loving memories his daughters: Lesley (Ken) Sheppard of Glovertown, and Jennifer (Lee) White of Goose Bay; five grandchildren: Nicholas, Kira, Rhiana, Colton and Denis; and his best fur friend Sophie. Douglas also leaves eight sisters: Mary Johnson of Rhode Island USA, Eleanor Davidson of Nanaimo, B.C. , Thelma Hynes of Mt. Pearl, Alamenia Thorne (Kathy)(Keith) of St. John's, Germaine Rose of Victoria, Betty Hynes, Madonna Hynes (Paul) and Bernice Kavanagh of St. John's; five brothers: Clarence Hynes (Linda) Ontario and Randell Hynes(Donna) St. John's , Joseph Hynes St. John's, Billy Hynes (Ella) Avondale and Phonse Hynes of St. John's; and a large circle of nieces and nephews, neighbors and friends. Our deepest thanks to the first responders and ER staff at the HSC. Dr. Kenny, Dr. Jenkins and Dr. Avery and to the ICU nursing staff: Lori, Leah and Ann Marie, our hearts are broken yet also so full of gratitude for the kindness and compassion that you have shown. You will never be forgotten. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be at Barrett’s Funeral Home, 73 Commonwealth Avenue, Mount Pearl, on Thursday & Friday, July 18th & 19th, from 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. and from 7:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. Funeral mass will be from St. Peter’s Parish, Ashford Drive, on Saturday, July 20th at 9:30 a.m. Flowers gratefully accepted, or donations in his memory made be made to Ronald McDonald House.
