MALLETT Dr. Doug It is with great sadness to announce the passing of Dr. Doug Mallett of Conception Bay South on March 30, 2020 at the age of 69 years at the Health Sciences Centre. Originally from Forestburg, Alberta. Predeceased by parents Carl and Josephine Mallett; nephew Jeff Mallett; niece Lori Mallett and sister-in-law Mary Mallett. Leaving to mourn his loving wife Marlene (nee Churchill) of 29 years; sister Patricia Foisy (Renee); brothers Jack Mallett, Jim Mallett (Carla) and Dennis Mallett (Joyce); as well as mother-in-law Edith Churchill of Portugal Cove, a large circle of nieces and nephews from Alberta, and extended family and friends of Portugal Cove. Special mention of longtime friend Gren McGonegal. Also leaving to mourn his nieces Sarah and Jessica Mitchell of Portugal Cove whom he loved dearly, and leaving behind his furry friends, Mika, Boo, Taffy, Kenzie and Susie. Douglas came to the province in 1975 as a visitor but stayed for 45 years. Dr. Mallett was a pioneer in the profession of Chiropractic Legislation in Newfoundland and Labrador. For his hard work and dedication, he received the first official Certificate of Registration for Chiropractic in the province. Retiring from his beloved practice in 2017 due to complications from Multiple Sclerosis. Special thanks to Douglas' homecare workers, community health nurses and staff at the Health Sciences Centre, Dr. Danielle Phillips, Reverend Amanda Taylor and Marlene's place of work (Dicks & Company Basics) for allowing her the flexibility to care for Doug in his time of need. Cremation has taken place. Due to the COVID-19 advisory, a gathering will be held at a later date. Details will be advised at the appropriate time by the family.
