Edna May Purchase

PURCHASE Edna May It is with a sad sense of loss that we say our final goodbyes to our loving and gentle wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt, Edna May Purchase (Lawrence) on Friday, March 27, 2020, at the age of 89 years. Her husband, son and daughters were privileged to be at St. Patrick’s Mercy Home with her as she passed. Left to mourn this wonderful woman, her loving husband of 68 years Edgar; her children: Carl (Calgary), Susan (Len) Reilly (Debert, NS), Marilyn (Paul) Scovil (Bridgewater, NS), Mike (Calgary, AB), Lance (Calgary, AB), Joe (Renee) (Mount Pearl, NL); her dearly loved grandchildren: Mark (Karine) Reilly, Andrew (Emily) Reilly, Lisa (Jamie) Laker, Nathan, Sara, Sean (Sarah), Julia, Justin, Adam and Kyle; great-grandchildren: Adele, Alexane, Kyna and Kieran; her sisters: Jean (Jim) Callahan, and Peggy (Carbonear, NL); brother, Stanley (Corner Brook, NL); as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family and friends from McIvers, Baie Verte, Corner Brook, St. John’s and Labrador areas. She is predeceased by her parents, George and Mary (Ogden) Lawrence (Corner Brook); brothers: George and Michael. The family would like express their heartfelt gratitude to the nurses and caregivers at the HSC and St. Patrick’s Mercy Home for the care and compassion shown to our Mother. As well as a special thank you to Dr. Sandra Ennis. You are angels, and we will be forever grateful. In lieu of flowers, donations in Edna’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society NL or The Dr. H. Bliss Murphy Cancer Care Foundation. Due to the current Public Health Advisory of COVID-19 a memorial service for Edna will be livestreamed from St. Peter’s Parish at www.saintpp.com on Monday, March 30 at 10:00am for those who would like to attend the online service. The service will be followed by a private family burial at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Galway. In lieu of visitation, the family and staff of Barrett’s Funeral Home encourage people to post their condolences, share photos, and tributes by visiting the online memorial guestbook at www.barretts.ca
