It is with broken hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, Ethel Dinn (nee Miller), on January 10, 2019 at the age of 94, at the Health Sciences Centre. Predeceased by her parents Edward and Caroline Miller of Portugal Cove; her husband of 56 years, Ronald Dinn (2006); her brothers and sisters: Suzie, Robert John, Harold (Maureen), Eliza (Art) Churchill, Edward (Maise), Gerald (Ethel), and Mary (Jim) Bugden; brothers and sisters-in-law Stanislaus, Madonna, Joseph (Loretta), Maud (Michael) Atkinson, Florence (Patrick) Stamp, William (Alice and Ellen), Jack (Effie), Loretta (Walter) Williams, Molly (John) Earles, and Elizabeth (Almon) Dale; and special life long friend Effie Dinn (nee Miller). Leaving to mourn is her loving and devoted family, daughters Mary (Chris) Pretty and Rhonda (Paul) Phillips, grandchildren whom she loved dearly Christina Pretty, Andrew Phillips, Alex Pretty and Amanda Phillips, her sister Gladys (Charles) Codner, a large circle of nieces, nephews and friends and special neighbors Victor and Dorothy Fleming. Ethel lived a full and happy life, devoting herself to caring for her immediate and extended family and friends. She welcomed everyone into her home and enjoyed sharing a cup of tea. Everyone knew her as a gentle, kind and compassionate lady. Many thanks to the wonderful staff at North Pond Manor for their genuine care over these last few months, and for the staff at the Health Sciences Centre Emergency and Fourth Floor for their kindness and compassion. Resting at Caul’s Funeral Home, LeMarchant Road on Monday, January 14th from 12-9 p.m. Funeral service will take place on Tuesday, January 15th from Caul's Chapel at 2:30 p.m. with interment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Flowers are gratefully accepted or donations in her memory may be made to the Janeway Children’s Hospital.
