Frank Roylance Smith

Passed away peacefully after a short illness with family members at his side on April 24, 2018, aged 86. Predeceased by parents Frank George and Sara Ida Smith. Lovingly remembered by wife Margarete (nee Bartenstein), son Arthur (Shelly), daughter Sara (Paul), grandchildren Benjamin (Andressa), Elizabeth, Joshua, Ezekiel, Russell, and Hazel; also lovingly remembered by friends, family, and former students in St. John’s and around the world. Retired professor of Chemistry at Memorial University, Frank was an avid volunteer throughout his life, dedicating time to the peace movement, music competitions, rose shows, and environmental concerns. Special thanks to the nurses and doctors at the Intensive Care Unit of the Health Sciences Centre for their care and kindness. At his request, his remains will be cremated.
