Fred Grouchy

GROUCHY Frederick “Fred” March 19th, 1947 – September 14th, 2019 A new star is shining tonight in the heavens. It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Frederick “Fred” Grouchy of St. John’s, Newfoundland, after battling a short sickness he shed his earthly temple at the age of 72 years. Predeceased by his parents Philip and Marg Grouchy and sister Shirley (Jim) Dyke. Leaving to mourn his wife of 51 years, Ruby; 3 kids: Freddy “Fred”, Rodney “Rod” and Tonia (good friend Jerry Canning); sisters: Betty “Bet” Murphy (John, deceased), Sharon Clarke (Mike), Ros Kirby (Jimmy, deceased), Diane (Dave) Reid and Patricia “Pat” (Bob); brothers: Philip (Pat), Wayne (Glenda) and Debbie (Wayne) Grouchy; grandchildren: Amanda, Stephanie and Rodney; 5 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law Sandra Durdle (Edmund, deceased), Glenys (Bill) Gorman and Elizabeth Chafe (Carl); and brothers-in-law Gordon Chafe, Kevin Chafe (Lisa) and Geoff Chafe (Joyce). We would like to send a special thanks to his family physician Dr. Paul Jackman and the staff and doctors of St. Clare’s who took really good care of our father. Hark, what’s the noise out by the porch door? Granny, tis mummers, there’s twenty or more. Her old weathered face brightens up with a grin. Any mummers, nice mummers ‘lowed in? Resting at Caul’s Funeral Home, LeMarchant Road on Tuesday, September 17th, 2019 from 1 – 4 p.m and 7 – 9 p.m. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, September 19th, 2019 from Caul’s Chapel at 10 with inurnment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of one’s choice.
