Murphy, Gerald It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, Gerald Walter John Murphy age 69 years who passed away on Saturday, April 20, 2019 surrounded by his loving family. After dedicating many years at the Newfoundland Liquor Corporation, Gerald began his early retirement to enjoy life to the fullest by spending all of his time making wonderful memories with the love of his life for 50 years Jeanette. Predeceased by his parents Elizabeth and Leo Murphy, sisters Betty and Joan; brothers Leo Jr., Doug and Pat. Leaving with fond and loving memories his wife Jeanette, children Jacqueline Beard (John), Gerry (Devon), Jennifer Lahey (Michael) and his grandchildren who were the light of his life Jacob (Kendall), Shaelynn, Travis, Kaitlin, Emma and Chloe; as well as great-grandchildren Jayden, Evelynn, and Madison; sisters and brothers Marg, Sheila, Faye, Mary and David as well as his much loved canine companion and best friend Buffy as well as his in laws the Steele family. Thank you to the nurses of 5 East and ICU at St. Clare’s Hospital and community nurses Marina and Trina. A special thank you to Dr. Melvin. Cremation has taken place. The family will receive visitors at Cauls Funeral Home, 84 LeMarchant Road on Tuesday from 2 p.m. – 9 p.m. Funeral Mass to take place from St. Patrick’s Church on Wednesday, April 24, 2019 at 9:30 a.m. Inurnment to take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the SPCA.
