Geraldine Prim

Geraldine Prim
PRIM GERALDINE With profound sadness and heavy hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of Geraldine in the presence of her family, on Tuesday, May 26, 2020. Gerry, as she was known, was born on October 21, 1924 and grew up in Cape Broyle. She was the fifth of nine children of Thomas and Mary O’Brien. A beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she leaves behind her loving husband of almost 70 years, Joseph Prim as well as her seven children, Tom (Judy), Tina, Terry, Loretta (Ross Currie), Joe (Janice) and Susan (Bert Hickman). She is sadly predeceased by her daughter Debbie as well as her parents, Thomas and Mary O’Brien, her infant brother, Bernard, sisters Irene, Loretta (Sister Rosari) and brothers Louis (Kay), Austin (Sally), Aiden (Edna) and sister-in-law Madeline O’Brien, brother-in-law Charlie and sister-in-law Regina (Jim Lysaght). In addition to her devoted husband and loving children she leaves behind to mourn her brothers Ed O’Brien (Helen) and Aloysious O’Brien, her fourteen grandchildren, Erin, Nathaniel, Matthew, Joshua, Jordan, Candice, Ashley, Tiffany, Kaitlyn, Maggie, Sarah, Alice, Julie and Claire, her nine great-grandchildren, Eva, Lincoln, Alexander, Camila, Davina, Lennox, Kaia, Madison and Tayvia, her sister-in-law Alice Furlong (Michael), brother-in-law, Matthew Prim (Maria) as well as a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends, many of whom come from her home community of Cape Broyle. Mom was a beautiful person who embraced life, family and friendship, while living to a wonderful age. She was a fun loving, social butterfly who loved Irish/Newfoundland music, a lively jig or old fashioned waltz; as well as a good game of 120’s with her friends. She was a devoted mother who always seemed to find time to attend school events/concerts/meetings, while managing a large, busy household. When visitors came, they seldom left without something - a dishtowel, candle, ornament and always a treat for the children. She was an avid shopper and was well known for her many unusual ‘bargains’. In Mom’s latter years all she wanted was to be surrounded by family. We will always remember her devotion and spirit. Although we will dearly miss her, many happy memories will stay forever. Thank you to the staff of both Tiffany Village and Glenbrook Lodge for their kind and exemplary care of Gerry over the past three years. Also special thanks to daughter-in-law, Judy Prim for her many hours of support and care on Mom’s behalf. It is so much appreciated. Gerry is resting at Caul’s Funeral Home and due to the current Covid 19 restrictions, a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, you may consider a donation in Mom’s memory to the Kids Eat Smart Foundation or to a charity of your choice. Forever in our hearts, you are now at peace. We dearly love you – sweet Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, Sister, Aunt and Friend.
