Gordon was predeceased by: infant son: Stephen; parents: Frank and Leah Saunders; sisters: Marie (Wes) and Joan; brothers: Ralph and Jim (Jean); brother-in-law: Russell; parents-in-law: Dorothy and Harry Pinsent and Si and Bride Barrow. Gordon was so proud of his 36-year career with the “CNR Boats” completed with his retirement from Marine Atlantic. He spent many early-morning hours walking in on the recreation complex track before many people in Carbonear were even awake. He was an avid hockey fan and was loyal to the Montreal Canadians and the CEEBEES and rarely missed a game until his health issues prevented him going. We would like to thank community health nurse John Pollett and Sandra Abbott of Physical and Medical Therapy Supplies for their excellent professional assistance, allowing us to care for Gordon at home. Following government legislation due to the pandemic, a private visitation will take place at Noel's Funeral Home, Carbonear, followed by funeral service at Bethany United Church, Carbonear by invitation only. Cremation to follow. Inurnment in Bethany United Cemetery, Carbonear. In lieu of flowers, donations graciously accepted for Bethany United Cemetery Fund, 2 Church Street, Carbonear, NL, A1Y 1A9, or a local food bank.
