PLOUGHMAN Jack Burford In the early hours of September 16, Jack Burford Ploughman of Coley’s Point (the epicentre of all good things, according to Burf) died peacefully at 89 years old. Patricia (Tish) has been Burf’s loving wife, caregiver, confidante and partner in illuminating societal wrongs for over 60 years. He played his best match when he met Tish on the Courts of Riverdale Tennis Club. He will also be lovingly remembered by daughter Kim (David Healey), sons Andrew (Chantelle Burke), Bruce (Susan) and Mark (Mary Walsh) and grandchildren Alex, Denys, Jared, Lauren, Sarah, Claire and Jeremy. He was a consummate outdoorsman and we came to understand that, on the crest of a treeless ridge where there are no trails other than those carved by caribou, and where you feel the wind without hearing it, is where he found ultimate peace and tranquility. We expect he is there now. The family would like to thank Ean Parsons of the Family Medicine Clinic for his years of care for our Dad as well as the amazing NL history he shared with him. We would also like to thank the staff of 5 East, St. Clare's for their compassionate and touching care during Dad’s final hours. There will be no visitation and cremation has taken place.
