James Pike

James Pike
PIKE James We sadly announce the passing of our dear father James Pike on Friday, May 29, 2020. Jesus called Dad home and into the waiting arms of his beloved wife and best friend Esther. Born on May 15, 1928, originally of Mt. Carmel and resided at Admiral’s Coast Retirement Centre where he peacefully passed away. He is predeceased by his beloved wife Esther, daughter-in-law Carol Ann and members of the Pike and Nolan families. Leaving to mourn with incredible sadness are his children: Ben (Wanda), Mercedes (Gary) Daley, Ed (Brenda), Connie (Gordon) Hickey, Derm (Julie), Mary (Norman) Linehan and Nancy (Curtis) McGrath. He leaves behind his heartbroken grandchildren who were the light of his life: Georgina, George, Kendra, Dylan, Brady, Leona, James, Katie, Jeffrey, Cheryl, Bruce, Robyn, Madison, Erica, Erin, Heidi, Kyle, Victoria, Kurt, Kacie, Hope; great-grandchildren: Jessica, Emma, George, Molly, Sam, Lyla, Riley and Jack, sisters-in-law Agnes Dohey and Mary Curran and many relatives of the Pike and Nolan families. Special thanks are extended to the staff of Admirals Coast Retirement Centre for their loving care and compassion. It brought us great comfort that he made special friends with each of you and he thought of you as his extended family. A gentle man who worked tirelessly his entire life to provide for his family. Whenever any of the boys were building something or working on a project Dad was there to lend a hand. We are forever grateful for the many memories we shared, his stories, his witty humour and all the endless hours he rocked and cuddled the babies. He always kept some cookies in his drawer for the visits from his great/grandchildren when they came to visit, and a drink for the grownups. Dad placed little value in worldly possessions. He believed all you need in life is your health & strength. He had an incredible faith in Jesus and the hope that he would be called to heaven when it was his time. This faith keeps us strong that he is indeed with Mom and the angels forever at peace. A memorial Mass will be celebrated at a later date when regulations permit. In lieu of flowers donations in Dads memory can be made to Mt. Carmel Church Cemetery Fund. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Gibbons’ Funeral Home, St. Mary’s.
