NOLAN John K. It is with deep sadness that our family announces the passing of the man we all loved, John K. Nolan, on November 17th, 2019 in his 69th year. John leaves with love and cherished memories his loving wife of 47 years, Leady (Alethia Pynn) and their two sons and wives C.J. and Andrea, Adam and Sarah. Poppy loved his six darling Grandchildren more than anything, he was devoted and committed in everything they did. Nathan, Emma, Sam, Kate, Max and Piper will forever remember their poppy with love. John will be dearly missed by his brothers and sisters: Joslyn Murphy (Gerald), Maurice Nolan (Frances), Sally Maclachlan (Dan), Sam Nolan (Maggie), Jim Nolan (Jima), Colin Nolan (Wanda), Ramona Nolan (Fox Jones) & Renee Nolan. His sisters-in-law: Myrtle Parsley, Ginny Dunn (Ed), Leslie Reid & Lori Pynn (Cliff). Predeceased by his parents, Samuel & Mary Nolan, his sister, Ann Marie Nolan, his nephew, Mark Nolan, his parents-in-law, Lewis and Jean Pynn, sisters-in-law, Vivian Pynn & Sis Reid, brothers-in-law Chris Parsley and Ford Ryan. John leaves behind a great legacy as a prominent businessman in the insurance industry for 50 years. As the Owner and Chairman of Munn Insurance he was proud of the business he helped build and grow. He viewed the insurance industry as a people business, and he took pride in the people of the Munn Insurance family who made Munn Insurance the company it is today. As a community leader he volunteered hundreds of hours as President & Executive member, coach, hockey and soccer dad and mentor to many at Mount Pearl Soccer, Mount Pearl Minor hockey and the Boys & Girls Club. As a loving family man and wonderful friend, John enjoyed going to his grandchildren’s activities and golfing with friends at Bally Haly (St. John’s) & Stoneybrook (Sarasota). The Nolan family would like to thank Dr. Paul Jackman, Dr. Joy McCarthy, Dr. Cheryl Hurley and all the staff at the Miller Center Palliative Care unit. To all of his friends and loved ones who gave him and his family support during his illness, we thank you. Relatives and friends are welcome to visit the family at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road on Wednesday, November 20 and Thursday, November 21 from 1-4 p.m. and 6-9 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, November 22, 2019 at 11 a.m. from St. Patrick’s Church, Patrick Street, St. John’s. Interment to follow at Mount Carmel Catholic Cemetery, The Boulevard, St. John’s. A Celebration of John’s life will take place at Bally Haly Country Club after the interment on Friday afternoon and evening. Donations in John’s memory can made to the Bell Island Boys & Girls Club or Dr. H. Bliss Cancer Care Foundation. Flowers accepted.
