Madeline GHANEY

GHANEY Madeline Passed away peacefully in the presence of her loving family at Pleasant View Towers, St. John's, on Tuesday, September 29th, 2020, Madeline Ghaney of Colliers - Age 88 years. The last child of Robert and Bridget Costello. Predeceased by her husband Leonard; daughter Mercede Gorman (grandson Darryl Gorman and granddaughter Lisa Gorman); son Leonard Jr.; son-in-law Brian Hawco (grandson Trevor Hawco); Stacey and Charmaine Dixon; sisters: Mary, Betty, Geraldine, Mercedes, and Catherine; brothers: Robert, Daniel, Cyril, and Jack; and deceased members of the Hearn, Costello, and Ghaney families. Leaving to mourn her sons: Bob (Audrey), Steve (Esther), John (Shirley), Kenneth (Laura), Keith, and Cyril; daughters: Mary (Frank), Rose (Jack), Betty, and Bridget (Bill); 24 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; her great-great-grandchildren; and son-in-law Joe Gorman. Also, special friend Daphne Cole; nephews: Father John Costello, Father Jim Dalton, and James Hearn; niece Sharron O'Toole; other nieces and nephews, and extended family and friends. Special thanks to the many doctors and nurses who cared for Madeline throughout the past few years and the family sends their gratitude. Special thanks are extended to the staff of 2 South West at Pleasant View Towers Long Term Care, St. John's, your kind care and compassion will always be remembered. Madeline was dedicated to home and family. Everywhere she went, she made friends. She loved nothing more than a cup of tea or a sip of whiskey, a long story and a game of cards. She had amazing energy and she was a woman of deep faith and a long-time parishioner, and volunteer of Collier's Parish and the Community of Colliers. The gates of Heaven have opened for a woman who opened her heart and home to so many. May the angels take her home to peace! Resting at Flaherty's Memorial Funeral Home, 70 Conception Bay Highway, Conception Harbour, with visitation on Thursday, October 1st, from 2:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m., and Friday, October 2nd, from 2:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. Respecting COVID-19 Regulations, please remember to practice "Social Distancing" during the visitation. Mass of Christian Burial will take place from Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, Colliers, on Saturday, October 3rd, 2020. Interment to follow in Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Colliers, in the Family Plot.
