Madeline Whelan

Passed peacefully away surrounded by her loving family at Placentia Health Centre on January 10, 2019 at the age of 91. Predeceased by her husband, Thomas, her daughters Chris Payne & Beth Hickey, her parents Thomas & Elizabeth Murray, sisters Josephine Power, Elizabeth Murray, Margaret Bruce, & Anne Stout, brothers Maurice Murray, Dan Murray, Bern Murray, & Ned Murray. Leaving to mourn, her only surviving brother, Tom Murray. Broken-hearted but blessed to have had her with us so long are her children & their spouses: Brian (Iona), Elaine (Tony), Peg (Ray), Brenda, Dave (Audrey), Derrick (Rita Ann), & Sherry (Terry). Also leaving to mourn, her grandchildren: Heather (Michael), Tony (Leslie), Megan (Shane), Josh (Tennille), Stephen, Jason (Leila), Kristian, Ashley, Kaitlin, Justin, Ryan, Tyler (Breanna), Mitchell (Stephanie), Devin, Brandon, & Zachary. Great-grandchildren Madeline, Emma Grace, Andrew, Christopher, Emily, Grayson, Mason, Emery, & Delilah. Mom had a great devotion to her family & took pride in volunteering with various groups over the years, especially the Star of the Sea Ladies Auxiliary. Thanks to all those who helped Mom along the way, particularly the staff at the Placentia Health Centre. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Maher’s Funeral Home, Placentia. Visitation to take place on Saturday, January 12 from 6 pm to 9 pm; & on Sunday, January 13 from 2 pm to 4 pm and 6 pm to 9 pm. Mass of Christian Burial to take place on 10:30 am on Monday, January 14, at Sacred Heart Church, Placentia. Interment will take place at Dermot McGettigan Memorial Cemetery, Southeast Placentia.
