LEGER Madonna Gertrude (nee Parsons) 1937-2020 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, grandmother and great-grandmother Madonna Leger (Parsons) on Sunday, February 23, 2020 at Pleasant View Towers surrounded by her family. Mom was born on April 20th 1937; the very first baby born at Come by Chance Cottage Hospital. Some of the happiest days of her younger years were spent with her brothers in her childhood home in LaManche Mines, Placentia Bay. Mom left home at 17 and moved to Stephenville where she met dad, Arcade (Jack) Leger. They married in 1955. Their first child was born in Stephenville Crossing in 1956. They continued to move around NL finally settling in St. John's in 1966 where the last of their 7 children was born in 1970. Their first grandchild was born in 1975 with the last grandchild welcomed in 2006. Now a total of 20. As their family continued to grow their first great grandchild entered the world in 1997. They now number 26 and counting. Mom is predeceased by dad (Jack) after celebrating 55 years of marriage, and her four loving brothers Wallace, Jack, Michael, and Lindy. Leaving to celebrate her life are her children, Debbie Nurse (Chris), Wanda Thornhill (Fred), Anita Yateman (Cliff), Yvonne Saunders (Robert), Donald (Kelly), Eugene, Jacquie Lethbridge (Dennis) daughter-in-law Stacey, her long time friend Helen Anstey, her two sisters, two sisters-in-law and a large number of other relatives and friends. Madonna's family would like to thank the staff of 2 south west and 2 south east at Pleasantview towers for the love, compassion and care of their mother over the past 5 years. Visitation at Caul’s Funeral Home, Lemarchant Road, Wednesday 7-9 pm and Thursday 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Mary Queen of the World Church on Friday, February 28, 2020 at 10 am. Cremation to Follow. Inurnment will take place at a later date. Flowers are great fully accepted.
