Mary Bridgett Evans (nee Burke)

Passed peacefully away on October 28, 2018, age 91 at Brampton Civic Hospital, Brampton, ON, Mary Bridgett Evans (nee Burke, formally of St. John’s, NL). Predeceased by her husband James William Evans in 1988. Leaving to mourn daughters Janis (MacAdam) of Wasaga Beach, ON, Colleen of Vancouver, BC, and son Paul of Montreal, QC. Sons-in-law A. Brian MacAdam, Douglas Hodgson, and daughter-in-law Janet Craig. Grandchildren Jennifer (Georgas), Laura, Stuart, Niklas and Colin. Special thanks to Drs. Ahuja and Dhillon, and the team of nurses and caregivers at the Acute Care for the Elderly unit of Brampton Civic who provided exceptional care in Mom’s last few days. Having lived most of her life in St. John’s NL, Mary moved to Brampton in 2000, in closer proximity to her children and grandchildren, who she very much enjoyed and enthusiastically baked for until Alzheimers took away her vitality. In 2011, Mary moved to Woodhall Park Retirement Village, and eventually to Long Term Care under the excellent clinical care of the kind and loving staff. Donations in Mary’s memory can be made to the Alzheimer’s Society of Canada, or the charity of your choice.
