Mary Ellen (Nell) (Nee Power) Macneil

Mary Ellen (Nell) (Nee Power) Macneil

MACNEIL Mary Ellen (Nell) (nee Power) Passed peacefully away at St Clare’s Mercy Hospital on Friday, February 14, 2020, surrounded by her loving family, at the age of 72 years. Predeceased by her husband of 50 years, Loyola, and her loving parents, Stella (Walsh) and Michael Power. Leaving to mourn with many wonderful memories, her children, Joseph (Elizabeth), and Alison (Grant Hutchison); and much adored grandchildren, Alex, Nicholas, Jared and Joey. Nell, originally from Portugal Cove South, was the kind and wise eldest sister to nine siblings: Don (Dianne) Power, Dolores (Herman) MacNeil, Lorraine (Neil) Devereaux, Michael (Joan) Power, Sharon (Bob) Meredith, Denis (Sharon) Power, Rosemary (David) Kennedy, Janis (John) Swantee, and Mona Power, along with many special nieces, nephews and friends. For years, Nell shared her gift of language and literature at high schools in Trepassey, Mt. Pearl, and St. John’s. She was often a willing contributor to English assignments, always a patient proof reader and corrector of French and English grammar. Her wisdom flowed from the classroom to the kitchen table, where she willingly shared meals with friends, family and neighbours. Special thanks to friends and staff at Karwood Retirement Home. Resting at Caul’s Funeral Home, LeMarchant Road. Visitation on Sunday and Monday from 1:00-4:00pm and 7:00–9:00pm. Funeral service will take place on Tuesday, February 18, 2020 at 11:00am at Caul’s Chapel. As an expression of sympathy, flowers gratefully accepted or donations in Nell’s memory may be made to Holy Redeemer Parish. I’ll love you forever, I’ll like you for always, As long as I’m living my Mommy you’ll be. Robert Munsch
