Maureen Kent
KENT Maureen August 15, 1956 - April 14, 2020 It is with shattered hearts and profound sadness that we the family of Maureen Kent announce the passing of our beloved sister Maureen ( age 63) following a courageous battle with cancer. A long time resident of Mount Pearl, Maureen is formerly from Bell Island. Predeceased by her parents Margaret (nee Delahunty) and Edward (Ned) Kent, Maureen leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories her six brothers and two sisters: Edward (Eileen); Paul ( Liz) ; Sharon (Dave); Lorne (Linda); Brian (Lynn); Madonna (Rui); Wayne (Wanda); Chris (Corina). Also leaving to mourn eight nieces and nephews whom she dearly loved: Eddy (Terri ); David (Jillian); Jennifer (Brad); Stephanie (Nick); Matthew (Kathy); Ricky (Renee); Joey (Shannon) and Amanda (Mike) and 9 grand nieces and nephews. She also leaves to mourn her many cousins and a wide circle of dear and close friends. In particular and during her illness she was greatly supported by her dear friend Gerry Hawco and her wonderful neighbours the Ryan’s. Special thanks as well to her cousin Father Jeff Kolonel, and to Father Ray Earle and Father John Cole, and the medical staff at the Health Sciences Centre. We know Maureen will be fondly remembered with rich memories not only by her family but by the many friends, colleagues and students whose lives she touched during her 40 year career at Memorial University of Newfoundland in both the Faculty of Education - Educational Foundations and at the Faculty of Medicine - Undergraduate Medical Education. An avid traveller, Maureen was still looking forward to the few places she had yet to visit . Some of her last days were spent smiling and reminiscing of trips taken and places visited thanks to the dear friends who kept in touch with her daily, sent photos and told her they loved her. Through she could not be physically surrounded by the entire family and the friends she loved so much during her final days - she knew she was surrounded by love on this her final journey. Cremation has already taken place . Unfortunately, due to the restrictions imposed because of the coronavirus, funeral arrangements and a celebration of Maureen’s life will take place at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to Pendergast’s Funeral Home. As an expression of sympathy donations in her memory can be made to Daffodil Place at www.cancer.ca We know that Butterflies appear when angels are near. So whisper I love you to a butterfly and it will fly to heaven and deliver your message .
