RIDEOUT Maxwell C. Jan. 27, 1925 to Sept. 12, 2019 Passed peacefully away at Pte. Josiah Squibb Memorial Pavilion, Carbonear, Thursday, September 12, 2019, Mr. Maxwell C. Rideout of North River, aged 94 years. Mr. Rideout was born in Burlington, Green Bay, NL on January 27, 1925. He received his early education at Burlington, then Grade XI at Prince of Wales College, St. John’s, BA Ed. From Memorial University in 1955 and BA from MUN in 1967. He had 35 years teaching experience at the following: Morton’s Harbour, Burlington, Humbermouth, Bishop Field College, St. John’s and United Junior High School, St. John’s, where he spent 18 years and retired from there in 1982. During his teaching career he was very active with the NTA and in 1981 received the Bancroft Award “In Recognition of, and Appreciation for Outstanding Service to the Branches of the NTA”. He was a member of St. George’s Masonic Lodge, St. John’s for over 25 years and became an affiliated member of Lodge Heart’s Content 1275 SC in February 1997. Since 1983 he was an active member of the Newfoundland and Labrador Shriners. He was also a member of Clarke’s Beach United Church and of it’s board of management, a member of the Official Board and member of the Men’s Fellowship Group and the Men’s Fellowship Choir and a member of the Board of Directors of “The Helping Hand” in Bay Roberts. Mr. Rideout was a keen gardener, loved carpentry and enjoyed motorhome traveling. Predeceased by his wife Joan (Sparkes) in January 2000 and by dear friend Violet Sellars in 2009. Leaving to mourn one daughter Janice (Glenn) Drodge, two sons; Paul (Melanie) and Peter (Kathy), and grandchildren; Sarah (Daryl), Kayleigh, Samuel and Alexandra. Resting at Moore’s Funeral Home, Clarke’s Beach with visitation on Sunday 10–12 Noon; 2–5 PM; 7–9 PM : Monday 10–12 Noon; 2–5 PM; 7–9 PM. Funeral service to take place on Tuesday, September 17, 2019 at 2:00 PM from the United Church, Clarke’s Beach with interment to follow at the United Church Cemetery, Clarke’s Beach. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Newfoundland Shriners Children’s Hospital Travel Fund or Clarke’s Beach United Church Perpetual Care Cemetery Fund.
