GARRETT Morley It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family of Morley Garrett announce his passing on November 15, 2020 at the age of 72 years. He died peacefully at the Miller Center after a courageous two-year battle with cancer. Leaving to mourn, with precious memories, his loving wife Wanda and daughter Lisa; siblings Mary, Marilyn (Dave) Hann, Keith (Jennifer Keyte), Carol Hann, Brian (Wanda), Florence (Doug) Penney, Derek (Pauline), and Kevin (Cindy). Also leaving to mourn are his parents-in-laws (and good friends), Garland and Shirley Jennings; brother-in-law Garland (Jennifer Jeans) Jennings; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family and wonderful friends. Predeceased by his parents Donald and Sheila Garrett; brothers-in-law Fred Hann and Dexter Penney; and, nephew Glen Garrett. Morley retired from Memorial University after 35 years with the Biochemistry Department. Following his retirement, Morley built a cabin in Trinity Bay and he loved spending time there all year-round. It was his happy place! Morley enjoyed the outdoors. He loved to hike, camp, travel around the province and the world, and, of course, to have a good chat. Morley was a storyteller and could strike up a conversation with people everywhere. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Erin Powell, all the wonderful nurses, and whole oncology team at the H. Bliss Murphy Cancer Center for their exceptional care and compassion during the past two years. Thanks also to the Community Health Nurses and the Palliative Care Team at the Miller Centre for keeping him comfortable during his last two weeks. As per Morley’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Visitation will be at Barrett’s Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Avenue on Tuesday, November 17th, 2020 from 2pm-4pm and 7pm-9pm. As per COVID-19 restrictions, the funeral service will be held at Barrett’s Memorial Chapel by invitation only on Wednesday, November 18th, 2020 at 11am.
