Scott Clifton Frye

Scott Clifton Frye
FRYE Scott Clifton On Monday, July 22, 2019, Scott Frye, loving husband and proud father of twin daughters, passed away at the age of 71 after a valiant fight with cancer. Scott was born on April 29, 1948 in Summerville, NL, to father John (Jack) and Lily Frye, who predeceased him. He grew up in a house by the ocean with his brother and two sisters. He met his wife, Nellie, when he was 20 and they married six years later, celebrating 45 years together on July 5, 2019. A carpenter by trade, he built a beautiful home in Mount Pearl, NL. This is where they raised their family and still live today, having enjoyed many days and evenings on the backyard patio. Scott was known to be an epic jokester and story teller who often had his friends and family in stitches and glued to his side to hear another tale, even if it had been told a thousand times. When diagnosed with non-hodgkin’s lymphoma in 2018, he never stopped battling the disease head on. People who surrounded him during this fight witnessed a man with great will and a kind spirit others only wish to have. He leaves behind: his strong and supportive wife: Nellie Frye, who never left his side for one moment; his daughters: Tammy Teeter (Steve) and Tanya Frye (Mel); his siblings: Adrian Fry (Norma), Sharon Oakley (Dave) and Loretta Mews (Bill in heaven); his brothers-in-law: Joseph Abbott (Florence), Ivan Abbott (Barb) and mother-in-law, Gladys Abbott (Abel in heaven); along with many nieces and nephews and their children; his many friends who loved him as dearly as he loved them. The Frye family would like to extend thanks to the staff of the Health Sciences Centre in their efforts to leave no stone unturned for treatment and to make him comfortable in his final days. At Scott’s request cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held at Barrett’s Funeral Home, 73 Commonwealth Ave., Mount Pearl, on Wednesday, July 24 and Thursday, July 25 between 2 - 4 p.m. and 7 - 9 p.m. Visitation will continue on Sunday, July 28 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at St. Mark’s Anglican Church Summervile. A memorial service will be held on Monday, July 29 at 11:00 a.m. from St. Mark’s Anglican Church, Summerville. Interment to follow at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks for donations to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Canada. The family also kindly asks for those who can to share a story of Scott that may have put a smile on their face. Send to the family anyway they please; a written note, email or pigeon carrier.
