MURPHY, CND Sister Anastasia (Sister St. Mary Sylvester) Passed away Peacefully at Bon-Secours Residence on February 21, 2020. Sister was the daughter of Sylvester Murphy and Mary Ann Martin of Newfoundland. She was predeceased by all of her siblings, John, Elizabeth, Vincent, Michael and Augustine. Anastasia leaves to mourn, her CND family as well Asher many cherished nieces and nephews. In 1937 she left her beloved Torbay, NL, to come to Montreal to follow her call to religious life. She entered the congregation of Notre Dame in 1938 and made her religious profession two years later. Her entire teaching ministry was spent in various schools in Montreal and the surroundings areas. Upon retirement from teaching, she volunteered her services for over 20 years in the finance department of Marianopolis college. Anastasia then moved to Villa Marguerite, Pierrefonds and subsequently to Bon-Secours Residence where with great joy and enthusiasm she was anticipating the celebration of her 108th birthday. Rest in peace. Her wake will be held in the chapel at Residence Bon-Secours, 5015, Ave Notre-Dame-de-Grâce Ave., Montréal H4A 1K2, on Friday, February 28 at 12h30 PM.
