Thomas Pelley

PELLEY Thomas 1929 - 2020 "I must go down to the seas again, to the lonely sea and the sky. And all I ask is a tall ship and a star to steer her by..." Sea Fever John Masefield Thomas David Lloyd Pelley passed on January 6th, 2020, in his 90th year, after living an incredible life, including a recent trip to Costa Rica. Tom is survived by his only child, Jenny Pelley; grandchildren, Rebecca Kearley and Jesse Kearley, his beloved sister Margaret Dufort (Paul); brothers, Harry and Bob (Ruby). Tom's passions included salmon fishing, berry picking, growing vegetables, mechanics; especially aviation, poetry, literature, song, oil painting and cribbage. Tom described his granddaughter Rebecca as beauty defined and Tom's grandson Jesse as "his" boy. Tom spoke daily of his admiration of his mother, Mary Ellen (Maidment) and the riveting tenor voice of his father, Frederick Pelley. If there was a berry to be plucked or a salmon to be fished, Tom was first on with the rubber boots. Cremation has taken place. A celebration of Tom's life will be held January 30th, 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at his home. " I babble, babble as I go, to join the brimming river. For men may come and men may go, but I go on forever." The Brook Alfred, Lord Tennyson
