The arrogance and dismissiveness of politicians we’ve been electing lately has now reached dizzying new heights. Where does Maxime Bernier get off with a title like that? The People’s Party of Canada.
Are we to assume that the other parties don’t house people of Canada?
One thing we should all be glad he’s overlooked, of course, is the resemblance of his new party’s name to the confusing number of splinter parties in that Monty Python move, “The Life of Brian.” Where parties would keep splintering from the main party and had titles such as “the Popular People’s Front,” “the People’s Popular Front,” “The Front of Popular People,” etc.
So, in that respect, his party will be lampooned into oblivion in no time — remember the Canadian splinter party called the CRAP party?

On a daily basis lately, I usually lament on most topics from north or south of the border by saying, “If it wasn’t so serious, this would be funny.”
In Maxime Bernier’s case, I’m glad it’s not serious and I’m glad it’s funny.
I hope John Cleese is laughing at this classic example of life imitating art.
