I was delighted to read there will be money in the 2019 budget for roads and sidewalks.

Hats off to the town of C.B.S. for recognizing the importance of and need for sidewalks in our town.

I would like to see a plan for sidewalks on Route 60 and all collector roads in the Town. Of course this includes Middle Bight Road.

This past fall, we have seen some great improvements with pavement on a portion of Route 60 and ditches cleaned out. I understand thanks are in order to Barry Petten and the provincial government for making this happen. In the process of doing this work, and because of changes made with respect to climate change, the ditches are much deeper and wider.

I walk Middle Bight Road and west on Route 60. The traffic is very heavy and walking is dangerous. It all gets very complicated when you try to figure out who is responsible for sidewalks on Route 60. The provincial government is responsible for maintaining the road but the town is responsible for sidewalks. When the town was incorporated in 1973 we were nine separate communities. At that time, we were told that by incorporating we would be able to avail of more services. That is a good reason for the province to help us with the cost of installing our sidewalks.

Maybe the federal government can give us some infrastructure money since these ditches were enlarged to accommodate climate change. I would like to see the three levels of government contributing to this. In this day and age consideration should be given to pedestrians when work is being considered on all roads.

I would like to see a continued effort to provide for safe walking and biking.
