ST. JOHN'S, N.L. —

I recently read that there are three kinds of history.

The first kind is about what really happened which is always forever lost.

The second kind is what people think happened, some of which can be recovered but only after much effort.

The third kind is what the people in power want you to think happened which is most of what you read in history books and these days what comes out of the PMO.

Applying these three options to the present Liberal-SNC-Lavalin scandal leaves little doubt which one applies.

Jane Philpott will go down in history as being that most rare of all things, a politician with principal and a moral conscience. And a Liberal politician at that — which, as a species, has throughout my lifetime consistently confused their well-being with that of the country.
