As a devout Catholic I was saddened by the fire at Notre Dame church.

I watched in horror as it was burning and thought of all the art work and structure that had been a part of life for so many.

However, it is amazing to me to see that the world can come together to raise so much money for this building whose very foundation is in danger.

It is well known that people are not attending churches like they used to and to put all that fortune into a building which may hardly be used in the future is so sad.

Why can’t the world get together like this and do something for the people of the countries where people have lost everything, are starving and homeless, like Africa and Indonesia.

Surely God would rather see us doing this for our fellow human beings.
