In reference to the not-so-funny joke stated on the sandwich board of a P.E.I. restaurant, as per The Telegram article from Aug. 9, did it not occur to Terre Rouge general manager Alex Smith that there may be Newfoundlanders sitting down to eat, and seeing this?
Did it not occur to him that he should be more up to date on the hate crimes with respect to LBGTQ that have happened over the last 10 years in Canada such as people being murdered, assaulted to the point of having brain damage, and even in his own province, firebombed?
While this retort may sound excessive, Smith needs to reflect on others’ feelings, and realize that while it may sound like humour to him or his staff, it is not appropriate.
As well, there are many more quotes he can use — quotes on life, summer or love.
Here’s one for your restaurant, and feel free to email me if you want more. Just let me know what your dish of the day is!
