Mayor Danny Breen has stated that a direct flight to Europe from St. John’s is a “vital” need for this energy city.
The fact is that if there was a market there would be a carrier. As it stands charters of all group sizes remain available, albeit at a premium to airline fares.
More confounding is His Honour’s apparent satisfaction in declaring St. John’s an “energy” metropolis with the bravado of the mayor of Houston.
Newfoundland has as large a per-capita carbon footprint as anywhere on the planet, something which appears to make Breen and likeminded patriots proud.
Ah yes, pride, the most pernicious of the seven deadly sins and the badge to which a spiritually bankrupt society aspires.
