Reading the paper recently there were numerous articles on bonuses paid to Nalcor executives not for their performance but just for being fortunate enough to be hired by Nalcor.
Then, I turn to the Senior Living Section and a letter caught my attention — here was a senior who had worked all her/his life and who now had to resort to going to the food bank as it was impossible to make ends meet.
We have seniors kicked out of boarding houses during the day who have to hang out in the mall or The Gathering Place as they are not allowed to stay in the house they are boarding in.
I thought we had a minister responsible for seniors, which begs the question what does this minister actually do?
To think that people have worked hard all their lives and now cannot afford to put food on their table is just horrible to think about.
I’m hoping with new government members this subject can be studied in house and a solution found.
With the taxpayers responsible for the Muskrat Falls fiasco this needs to be done sooner than later.
