The following puts the world of today in perspective.

The young lady came out the door, head down. She stepped to the side, stopped, leaned against the brick wall motionless. She looked up. Her forehead was indented with a bright red mark. It was wide, straight and deep and ran the width of her face. Her eyes were surrounded by lighter red marks. Goggles had been there at some point during the day. It was the bridge of her nose that was the worst. Tremendous pressure had pushed the skin so deep into her face you could feel her pain. She sobbed. Her tears fell like rain. She was an ICU nurse.

The Blue Jays were probably going to play in Buffalo. Some players expressed disappointment because the dressing room was not up to major league standards.

Life needs essentials. Essentials cannot be replaced. Sport is a diversion.

I cannot get over the difference. Clean air, clean water, healthy food, dry shelter, warm clothing, affordable and accessible health care and photosynthesis are essential. The world will continue without baseball, without hockey, without football, and without many other diversions.

Life needs essentials. Essentials cannot be replaced. Sport is a diversion. Diversions can easily be replaced. Go for a walk. Become physically active. Talk to a neighbour. Become socially involved. Read a book. Become intellectually engaged.

I understand in the near future the homeless Toronto Blue Jays will play the Miami Marlins and it will be available on a sports channel. Really don't care. There are better things to do.
