First of all, I would like to state that I am not affiliated with any political party. I vote for the party I believe will provide the best results for our province.
Having said that, I don’t understand the rationale behind the latest poll which shows Justin Trudeau as the most popular federal leader in this province.
Newfoundland and Labrador is very rich in terms of natural resources and very poor financially.
One of the reasons this province is still financially solvent is due to revenue generated by the production of oil off our coast.
Why, then, would anyone vote for Justin Trudeau when his government’s policies and over-regulation of our much-needed petroleum industry are diametrically opposed to our economic and social development and wellbeing?
As well, if Prime Minister Trudeau and his government were so concerned about our financial future, where are the hundreds of millions of dollars we need to help offset the increased power rates resulting from the Muskrat Falls project? The recently renegotiated Atlantic Accord is not much help, the benefits of which I can only describe as a very bad joke.
In October we get to choose a new federal government.
If we can’t get the desperately needed financial help from Trudeau and his party before the election when he is looking for our votes we certainly are not going to get it after.
