In recognition of Black Heritage Month, 10-year-old Brayden Setor Hanrahan-Glover, a student at Greenfield Elementary School, penned the following poem:

We are people hear our voice

We have been

segregated for

so long please

correct me If

I’m wrong.

We fought for

freedom We

fought through

pain so please

respect us on

Mr. King's day.

Rip to martin gone

Too soon rip to george

he’ll rest on the moon.

Obama ran because he

had his rights and made

people happy every night.

Rosa sat in the front of the

bus got arrested people made

a fuss. Viola sat to watch a movie

but instead of that people got moody.

We are colored and that is fine so why

didn't they respect us for they were blind.

Brayden Setor Hanrahan-Glover
