On behalf of the executive and members of the Sydney Mines Legion Branch 008, I extend thanks to the Cape Breton Post editorial staff for providing extensive coverage of our poppy campaign during a pandemic when safety precautions have limited our in-person donation collections.

By getting the message out to support our efforts despite the limitations we face this year, donations steadily flowed in to our Legion’s Poppy Fund.

As we approached Nov. 11 and made our final plans for a small Remembrance Day service at the local cenotaph, it was comforting to know that media, businesses and Canadians have pulled together to assist us and ensure our poppy campaign is successful this year.

Thanks to your generosity, more veterans and their dependents will receive the assistance they need through various programs made possible by the Legion Poppy Fund.

Lest We Forget.

Mel Birmingham

Poppy Fund Chairman

Sydney Mines Legion Branch 008
