Memorial Sea-Hawks varsity swimmer Allison Somers is The Telegram sports department’s choice as athlete of the week.
Somers, from Carbonear, won a silver medal and two bronze at the Atlantic University Sport swimming championship last weekend at Dalhousie University in Halifax. She was second in the 200m butterfly, and placed third in the 50m and 100m butterfly races.
Somers qualified for the U Sports national championships in the 200m butterfly, which will be hosted by UBC in Vancouver Feb. 21-23.
