Runner David Freake is The Telegram sports department’s choice as athlete of the week.
Freake enjoyed an amazing Maritime Race Weekend last weekend on Nova Scotia’s Eastern Passage.
Not only did Freake win the Sunset 5K race last Friday evening in a time of 15:39, he got up the next day and won the half-marathon in record fashion.
His time in the half-marathon was 1:11.14.
Freake is now training for the full marathon at Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon Oct. 20.
