Michael Broders of the Mount Pearl Mark's Blades is The Telegram sports department's choice as athlete of the week.
Broders clinched the Mary Brown’s St. John’s Junior Hockey League’s scoring title last weekend with a two-goal, two-assist performance in an 8-2 Blades win over the Southern Shore Breakers last Sunday night at The Glacier in Mount Pearl.
Broders finished the year with 17 goals and 58 points in 27 games, one point more than Ryan Dawson of the C.B.N. Stars.
Broders and the 23-3-2 Blades are the top-ranked team heading into the junior playoffs.
