The Corner Brook Barons carry a 2-1 lead on the St. John’s Capitals into the Molson provincial senior baseball championship which resumes today at St. Pat’s Ball Park.

The Barons took the lead in the best-of-seven series last weekend at Corner Brook’s Jubilee Field.

Corner Brook won Game 1 5-4 in extra innings before doubling the Caps 8-4 in Game 2.

St. John’s avoided falling into a deep hole with an 8-3 win in Game 3 Sunday.

Starting pitcher Scott Goosney was unavailable last weekend, but he will be in the Caps’ uniform this weekend, and will get the start in Game 4 which goes 1 o’clock this afternoon.
Look for Michael Tavenor to get the starting nod for Corner Brook.

Game 5 is slated to go 7 p.m. this evening. If necessary, Games 6 and 7 are scheduled for noon and 7 p.m. Sunday.

St. John’s has won 17 of the last 18 all-Newfoundland titles, the lone exception being 2013 when Corner Brook wrestled the crown away from the Caps.
