A showdown is set for tonight as first place in the St. John’s Senior Baseball League’s regular season is on the line when RMM Gonzaga Vikings and Holy Cross Trinity Pub Crusaders clash at St. Pat’s Ball Park.
The regular season wraps up tonight with two games on tap. The Vikes and Crusaders meet at 8:30 p.m., following a six o’clock game between OMT Shamrocks and Knights.
Gonzaga currently holds down first place, one point ahead of Holy Cross. Shamrocks are locked into third place, with Knights in fourth spot.
Monday night, Gerald Butt collected two hits (single and double), walked, knocked in a run and scored two as Gonzaga beat Feildians 9-6. Kieran Buckingham (7IP, 6H, 7R, 5ER, 2BB, 5K) won over Alex Walsh (4IP, 7H, 9R, 7ER, 4BB, 2K). Ryan Harnett (3IP, 1H, 0R, 0ER, 3BB, 1K) came on in relief.
In another game, Holy Cross downed Knights 6-1 with Sean Janes tossing a complete game as well, scattering seven hits while fanning seven. He didn’t walk a batter.
Matt Sullivan (7IP, 17H, 6R, 4ER, 1BB, 3K, 1HB) also went the distance in taking the loss.
Steve Crouse had two hits for the winners, and Jacob Baker had two in a losing cause.
