St. Pats Ball Park in St. John’s is site of the midget AA event. The host Capitals welcome Mount Pearl, Paradise, Conception Bay South, Grand Falls-Windsor and Corner Brook for a single round robin format. The tourney opens 10 a.m. with St. John’s taking on Mount Pearl.
Meanwhile, the host Mount Pearl Blazers, St. John’s Capitals and Paradise Phantoms are competing in a double round robin at the Team Gushue Complex for the provincial bantam A championship. The Blazers and Caps open things at 11 a.m. Friday.
There are two more provincial minor championships this weekend, both being held in Corner Brook.
The girls U14s event will feature teams from St. John’s, Mount Pearl, Grand Falls-Windsor, Pasadena, Bay St. George and the host Barons, while the Grand Falls-Windsor Braves, Mount Pearl Blazers and St. John’s Capitals join the Barons for the mosquito AAA tourney, with the winner advancing to the Atlantic championships next month.
Championship games in all four provincial competitions are set for Sunday.
