BOSTON — Vlad Guerrero Jr.’s much-scrutinized path to the big leagues is on the move yet again.

After playing four games for the single-A Dunedin Blue Jays following his recovery from a strained oblique muscle, a source said the 20-year-old spent Wednesday traveling to rejoin the triple-A Buffalo Bisons.

Once Guerrero gets up to speed to pitching at the highest level of minor-league ball, the Jays will look to set a date for his possible promotion to the big team.

In his four rehab games with Dunedin, Guerrero was 4-for-15 at the plate. He played back-to-back games for the first time on Monday and Tuesday, another positive step in his recovery.

The Bisons game in Buffalo scheduled for Wednesday was postponed due to cold and the Herd is due to open a four-game series against Scranton Wilkes-Barre on Thursday, the first on a seven-game road trip.

Jays manager Charlie Montoyo has been in regular contact with Guerrero, suggesting he stay in the warm of Florida until he’s ready to get more aggressive with his rehab and face better pitching.

Apparently, that time has arrived.
