Mosquito Blazers take silver at Atlantics

The Mount Pearl Blazers dropped a 12-2 decision to Dartmouth, N.S. in the final Sunday, but the Blazers still managed to win a silver medal at the 2015 Atlantic mosquito (under-11) AAA  baseball championship in Dieppe, N.B.

Meanwhile, St. John’s played host to the AA bantam Atlantics where the host team went 1-2. The Mount Pearl Blazers also took part, and also went 1-2.

Shelburne, N.S. beat Stratford, P.E.I. 9-3 in the final.

Daniel Burke of St. John’s was the tournament’s top batter and all-star centrefielder. Andrew Dowden of St. John’s was the all-star first baseman, while Mount Pearl players Ryan Hounsell (left field) and Jake Tobin (pitcher) also received berths on the tournament all-star team.
