The defending champion OMT Shamrocks won for the second time in as many games in this brand-new St. John’s Molson senior baseball season by doubling the Knights 6-3 Monday night at St. Pat’s Ball Park.
Shammies’ starter Matt Murphy (2W, 3K) gave up two runs on seven hits over six innings before Graham King (2W, 2K) took over in the seventh, allowing a single run.
Noah Anderson, who relieved Knights starter Randy Reid in the third inning, was tagged with the loss.
Dave Penney had two doubles for the winners, while Greg Sharpe collected two hits and scored twice for the Knights.
In Monday’s other game, Riley King scattered five hits and struck out nine over six innings as Feildians shaded Holy Cross Trinity Pub 2-1 in a game shortened by an inning by curfew.
Holy Cross starter Ron French (3IP, 3H, 4W, 1K) took the loss, allowing both Feildians runs, one of them unearned. Justin Crawley (2IP, 2H, 2K) finished up for the Crusaders.
Aaron Flood drove in both Feildians runs, while John Cribb had two hits and scored the only run for Holy Cross.
