Holy Cross Trinity Pub veteran Gerry Stone was on fire on a warm Saturday at St. Pat’s Ball Park, going four-for-four as the Crusaders trimmed Feildians 11-5 in one of two St. John’s Molson senior baseball games.
Stone was a triple away from hitting for the cycle, collecting a pair of singles, double and home run, while knocking in four runs and scoring twice. He also stole a base for good measure.
Sean Janes (2.1IP, 1H, 0R, 0ER, 1BB, 3K) got the win in relief of starter Justin Crawley (4.2IP, 8H, 5R, 5ER, 0BB, 5K).
Starter Alex Walsh (4.1IP, 7H, 6R, 3ER, 4BB, 2K), the first of three Feildians pitchers, suffered the loss. Riley King and Nick Curran also saw mound duty.
Grant Vincent singled and homered in a losing cause.
In a game at Mount Pearl’s Smallwood Drive Ball Park, OMT Shamrocks blanked Knights 7-0. Greg Barry got the win, with relief help from Josh Fifield. Matt Sullivan lasted only 2.2 innings in taking the loss. Randy Reid and Noah Anderson also pitched for the Knights.
Dave Penney, Scott Stockley, Mike Dyke and Brent Power all had two hits apiece for Shamrocks.
