There were football scores on the baseball diamond Tuesday night.

Winning teams totalled 47 runs in three St. John’s Molson senior baseball games, two at St. Pat’s Ball Park, the other at Smallwood Field in Mount Pearl.

All three games were shortened to five innings due to the league’s 10-run mercy rule.

In Mount Pearl Andrew Paul reached based five times, with three singles and two walks, drove in three runs and scored two more as the RMM Gonzaga Vikings blasted the Storm 17-0.

Matt Parsons also had three hits and scored twice for the winners, while Gonzaga’s Peter Madden, Mike O’Neil and David Lahey each had two hits.

Pitchers Dan Connors (3IP, 1H, 3K) and Lahey (2IP 3H, 2K), who was credited with the win, shared the shutout for the Vikings.

At St. Pat’s, Feildians also collected the equivalent of two converted touchdowns and a field goal in a 17-2 win over Holy Cross Trinity Pub.

Grant Vincent had four hits, including a home run, and collected six RBIs for the Double Blues, while Danny Rice, Alex Walsh and Daniel Hearn each added two hits for Feildians.

Walsh (2IP, 2H, 2R, 2W, 3K) and winner Ryan Harnett (3IP, 2H, 3W 3K) combined on the pitching victory.

Tuesday’s other game saw the OMT Shamrocks blank Knights 13-0 at St. Pat’s.

Zach Fitzpatrick (2R, 3RBI) and Dave Penney (3R) both had two wits for the Shammies.

Starting and winning pitcher Josh Fifield (4IP, 3H, 2W, 2K) and Fitzpatrick (1IP, 1K) combined for the shutout.
