DJ LeMahieu had four hits and drove in three runs to inch closer to securing the American League batting title as the New York Yankees overcame a three-run deficit and beat the Miami Marlins 10-4 Saturday afternoon at Yankee Stadium.
LeMahieu had a two-run double in the sixth and an RBI single in the seventh. The second baseman's fourth four-hit game of the season raised his batting average to .359, giving him a 31-point lead in the batting race on Chicago's Tim Anderson (.328), who went 0-for-5 in a 9-5 loss to the Cubs later Saturday.
The last Yankee to win a batting title was Bernie Williams in 1998.
Luke Voit capped New York's seven-run sixth with a three-run home run. It was his major league-leading 22nd homer.
Tyler Wade and Aaron Hicks hit two-run homers for the Yankees, who had lost five of their previous six games and were homerless in five straight games for the first time since 2014.
Giancarlo Stanton also added an RBI double after the Yankees fell behind 3-0 for the second straight game before rallying.
The Yankees (33-26) entered the fifth in a 3-0 hole but chipped away off Ryne Stanek and James Hoyt. Wade hit a first-pitch fastball off the facing of the second deck in right field to make it 3-2 and Stanton laced a double to the warning track in left field to forge a 3-3 deadlock.
New York took the lead in the sixth when Hicks hit a 2-1 sinker from Stephen Tarpley (2-2) over the right-center fence. LeMahieu made it 7-3 with a double down the left-field line that scored Clint Frazier and Gary Sanchez, who were sacrificed over by Wade.
Voit turned the game into a rout by hitting a full-count offering from Nick Vincent over the right-center field fence.
New York rookie Deivi Garcia (3-2) allowed four runs on seven hits in 6 2/3 innings. He struck out seven and walked one.
Matt Joyce had three hits for the Marlins (30-29), who rested several regulars after clinching a playoff berth Friday. Joyce capped Miami's three-run third with an RBI single.
Jon Berti had an RBI single and scored on Joyce's run-scoring hit.
Monte Harrison, who scored the winning run in the 10th inning Friday, sped home from first on a double by Miguel Rojas for Miami's first run.
Marlins left-hander Trevor Rogers allowed two hits in three scoreless innings before Stanek, Hoyt and Tarpley faltered.
