Ethan Stuckless scored twice as the East Coast Blizzard handed the Western Kings only their second Newfoundland and Labrador Major Midget Hockey League loss of the season Sunday with a 2-1 victory at the Corner Brook Civic Centre.

The Blizzard now have 12 wins and 16 losses.

Liam Smith had the only goal for the Kings, who have 28 wins in 30 starts this year.

Saturday in Corner Brook, as that city was staging Hockey Day in Canada, Lucas Park posted the shutout and Kristopher Thomas, Noah Legge and Skyler Coates scored the goals as Western won the two-game series-opener 3-0.

Sunday at the Bay Arena in Bay Roberts, the 12-13 Tri-Pen Osprey got three goals from David Hibbs and a goal and three assists from Luke Akerman to beat 3-22 Central IcePak 7-4 and sweep their series.

Kyle Tetford, Jacob Evans and Matthew Brown potted singles for the Osprey. Replying were Philip Pardy, Eric Hanlon, Ryan Hoskins and Damian Freake.

Saturday night in Bay Roberts, Hibbs scored twice and Matthew Akerman had a goal and two helpers as the Osprey won 8-3. Luke Akerman, Tetford, Lucas Russell, Ethan Crosbie asnd Josh Neil also had goals for Tri-Pen. Adam Crant, Mackenzie Lewis and Josh Shears replied for Central.
