Brad Gushue and his two-time defending Brier champions improved to 2-0  at the Humpty’s Champions Cup in Calgary on Thursday after coming away with a 5-4 win over Brad Jacobs of Northern Ontario.

The Champions Cup, the final event of the 2017-18 Pinty’s Grand Slam of Curling schedule, features 15 men’s teams and 15 women’s teams which have won events over the course of the season in order to qualify for entry.

Gushue, Mark Nichols, Brett Gallant and Geoff Walker finish the preliminary schedule with two games today against American Rich Ruhonen and Manitoba’s Reid Carruthers.

The top eight overall finishers in each of the men’s and women’s divisions advance to the weekend playoffs.
